Smoke Break

Well not the kind of smoke break you might be thinking of... The Rim Fire in Yosemite has been burning for 3 weeks now and the smoke here in our valley is just absolutely terrible. The kids have all been sick from it, and not to mentioned stuck inside due to hazardous air qualities so we decided we needed to get out of here and go somewhere where we could breathe a little!
No filter, just what it looks like at night outside. Bleh!

We drove down to Mammoth on Saturday morning and let the kids run around the park and enjoy the fresh air... well about 2 hours after we arrived some smoke rolled in and blanketed us there! We couldn't believe it was happening, and everyone we talked to said this was the first day they had had any smoke... figures... after almost packing back up and leaving we stuck it out for the night and woke up the next morning to crystal clear blue skies! Come to find out it wasn't Rim Fire smoke it was from a different fire in the area that was contained quickly! Thank you Lord!

So Sunday morning we drove up to the lodge and they had this really new "adventure camp" for kids, where you buy a day pass and they can zip line, euro jump (a trampoline that they're hooked up to bungy cords and go super high) and a rock wall to climb. Lets just say we were there for 6 hours and the kids had a BLAST! We also took the gondola up to the top (11,000') and had lunch and walked around it was so pretty and lunch was very good.

Papa and Grandma came out on sunday afternoon and stayed the night with us. We played some dominos, walked over to the park again and went out to dinner! Monday morning they left and we drove around some more enjoying the fresh air.

This little toothy smile cracks me up!
